Tabata Intervals – The Best Fat-Burning Exercise

Have you ever been on a treadmill that displayed how many calories you burned during your workout? If so, you doubtless know how difficult it is to run off the 2000 – 3000 calories you eat each day by exercising. In fact, working out more is NOT the best way to lose weight, and the best fat-burning exercise will only take up a few MINUTES of your time every week!

All About Calories

Unless you are a marathon runner, you probably have never burned off the same amount of calories you eat during a day during exercise. Have you ever wondered why this is?

Well, I have a startling secret to tell you: only a small fraction of the energy we burn each day comes from exercising. The majority comes from our resting metabolic rate, which is the energy we burn while at rest.

To put it another way: You are burning FAR MORE energy by sitting around on your butt all day than you do with the 20 – 60 minutes of daily exercise you are doing.

The Best Fat-Burning Exercise

So if you are looking for an exercise that burns fat, it would be much more effective to find an exercise that ELEVATES your metabolism, so that you transform your body into a fat-burning machine, even when you aren’t working out!

That best exercise was discovered by Dr. Izumi Tabata, who studied the effects of intermittent training on aerobic and anaerobic capacity. And what he found was that his exercise program drastically increased both capacities, giving a killer workout in only 8 minutes!

Other researchers have since found that this program boosts your metabolism, burning fat long after you have stopped working out. By adding this workout, you can permanently elevate your metabolism to keep your body using your fat for fuel!

Tabata Intervals

Okay, time for the big reveal. The Tabata Protocol consists of:

  1. 20 seconds of exercise at maximum intensity.
  2. 10 seconds of rest.
  3. Repeat this interval 8 times for a total of 4 minutes.

Tabata intervals can be done with any exercise. I would suggest trying:

  • Sprinting
  • Cycling
  • Jumping rope
  • Rowing

It may sound easy, but you will need to push yourself REALLY hard for those 20 second intervals. If you can do this, you will save an incredible amount of time and get in better shape than everyone pounding away on the treadmill for hours and hours each week.

Tabata intervals are surely the best fat-burning exercise, and you should add it to your routine today!
